Official selection Holland Animation Film Festival 2008

The official selection for the competitions of the Holland Animation Film Festival 2008 is now ready and online. The organization was surprised by the overwhelming amount of over 1,700 entries. Gerben Schermer and Erik van Drunen selected the films for the competition for independent animated shorts, the competition for applied animation and the student competition for the Netherlands and Belgium.

The festival made selections for the special programmes; animation film & games, the competition MovieSquad HAFF Junior and the programme with international student films as well.

Films for the competition for the Dutch Animation Audience Award were selected by an independent commission consisting of delegates of the Association of Dutch Animation Producers (VNAP), the Association of New Dutch Film and Television Makers (NFTVM) and the Holland Animation Film Festival (HAFF).

-Competition for independent animated shorts - 1270 entries, 31 selected
(22 narrative, 9 non-narrative)
-Competition for applied animation - 358 entries, 120 selected
(53 commercials, 16 educational, 26 leaders, 25 music videos)
-Student competition Netherlands and Belgium (132 entries, 40 selected)
-Competition for the Audience Award Dutch Animation - 101 entries, 50 selected
