1st Annual New England Underground Film Festival in Hartford

New England Underground Film Festival will launch October 16 @ La Paloma Sabanera in Hartford, CT

 

 

The New England Underground Film Festival, a new celebration of the best of contemporary underground cinema, will have its inaugural presentation on October 16 at La Paloma Sabanera, a café and visual arts venue in Hartford, Connecticut. The event will be held from 12:00pm to 6:00pm; general admission is $10 and students with school ID can pay $5.

 

The New England Underground Film Festival will present a line-up of short films and feature-length productions. Filmmakers from Connecticut (Cliff Cronan of Wallingford, Nick Zak of Madison and E.M. Schrader of New Haven) and Massachusetts (Rick Dorrington of Billerica, Angel Connell of Westford, Michael Legge of Mendon and Paul Turano of Boston) represent New England’s underground film scene, and the festival will also present new films from France, Spain, Russia and Finland.

 

As a special treat, the festival will present a very rare screening “Frankenstein,” the 1910 Thomas Edison-produced horror film starring Charles Ogle as the man-made monster. Considered lost for many years, “Frankenstein” will be seen on the big screen in New England for the first time in 101 years.
