6FT HICK: NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND

Australia; 2010

Directed by: Marty Moynihan

European tour of 6ft Hick, an obscure Australian band from remote Queensland, is the narrative skeleton upon which lies the very warm and lively flesh of this documentary. This beautifully shot, edited and directed film shows the tearing of the wall beetween the audience and the stage and the extremely direct, almost aggressive challenging of the crowd to go beyond the rock'n'roll ritual and make it their own. When the gig is over, these passionate, dedicated, bestially tenacious and heartfuly honest put the stage, backstage and beds in order and clean up the toilet. Captured scenes are challenging the standard rock documentary form, since they don't perpetuate the myth of a rocker. This is no reality show. It is the real thing. A powerful document of the universal nature of rock'n'roll underground. And - of course – a very noisy one.
