Ognjen Sviličić about the Balkans, the festivals and everything

Ognjen Sviličić, Sylvia ChristelThe famous Croatian film director Ognjen Sviličić, internationally renown with his movies Sorry for Kung Fu (2004) and Armin (2007), is coming to Sofia Fil Festival with his new film Two Sunny Days
(feat. Silvia Kristel – an experiment, but also a natural decision, as
the director says). Sviličić, who is also a musician from a new wave
punk band, which he considers, joking, the Croatian version of the
Festival Band of Stefan Kitanov, is a member of the International Jury
and a participant in the Balkan competition in the same time.

He comments this situation the following way:



I
feel that’s what you call corruption on Balkans! I’m joking, of course,
me as a member of the jury and my film are in different sections in the
competition program. Of course, it’s a big honor for me to be in the
International jury, not only because it’s a great festival, but also
because I will have to see lots of good movies of my colleagues, which I
usually don’t see, because not so many of this films will come to
Zagreb. I know Sofia Film Festival from years and I’m sure that
selection is crème de la crème of the greatest movies and directors… So,
speaking about the International competition and the Balkan
competition, it’s a small world of Eastern European directors, so
sometimes you have to do both of the jobs probably… It’s important,
anyway, them my film is not in the same competition, where I am in the
jury.
