2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of French Icon Serge Gainsbourg (he died of a heart attack on March 2, 1991). Singer-songwriter, director, actor, photographer, provocateur, iconoclast, father of actress-singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, husband of actress-singer Jane Birkin, lover of French icon Brigitte Bardot, and much more, Gainsbourg was a major figure in the 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's pop-culture, all through a fog of Gitanes and alcohol... He is still today considered as one of the world's most influential popular musicians. Come and celebrate the spirit of "Gainsbarre" with us ! Born on April 2, 1928 Gainsbourg would have turned 82 this year.

The Sacramento French Film Festival is happy to announce that in June 2011, we will pay homage to Serge Gainsbourg by presenting the acclaimed and award winning feature film Gainsbourg: Vie heroique directed by Joann Sfar, winner of the 2011 César (French Academy Award) for Best First feature Film and Best Actor in a Leading Role for Eric Elmosnino.
