Saviors in the Night (Unter Bauern - Retter in der Nacht), directed by Ludi Boeken (Germany/France, 2009, 95 min., 35mm)
In a close race, this film won your votes in the Audience Award: Sony Vegas Pro 10 film editing software, donated by Sony Creative Software. It tells the moving story of a Jewish family hidden by Westphalian farmers in Germany between 1943 and 1945. Based upon Marga Spiegel's 1965 memoir, the film features powerful performances from well-knkown German actors Veronica Ferres and Margarita Broich.

Our documentary competition was also close, and the winner is this affecting film by Wayland-born, Emmy Award-winning (The Children of Chabannes, 1999 Festival) Lisa Gossels
By following 6 young Palestinian and Israeli women who meet as teens in a 2002 U.S. women's leadership program over a 7-year period, filmmaker Gossels depicts the painstaking effort behind even the smallest steps toward peace. Click here to view clips from the film.
