Film Festival Puts Fans in the Judge’s Seat

“That’s a yes from me.” A line made famous from the judgeson American Idol can now be coming from fans that attend the Astoria/LIC FilmFestival October 22-24, 2010.

The unique twist allows fans to vote for the best pieces ineach category for films or readings. The piecesthat win the most votes in each category will be presented with The Fan Awardduring the closing ceremony on Sunday evening.

“The Fan Awards make the fans proactive and more involved,”said film director Dennis Cieri. “That is what we wanted out of this festival,for it to be a new place for artists to interact with the arts instead of justbeing a passive audience.”

The festival strives to promotean open and nurturing environment for artists, writers, actors, filmmakers andfans, and focuses on offering great networking opportunities for itsparticipants. There will be film screenings, short story and script readingsand panel discussions.
