KinofilmEuropean Short Film Festival – MANCHESTER (APRIL 2010)


Due tologistical arrangements, Kino would like to announce the dates of the KINOFILM2010 Festival have changed to the 28th April – 2nd May 2010. Please note thischanges in your festival diaries.


CALL FORENTRIES NEWS: the late deadline to KINOFILM is due to close on 31st October(forms can be downloaded through the festival web site, due to the above changes in the Festival dates, filmmakers now have theopportunity to submit films through a special WithaoutBox deadline until 30thNovember. Please note that films can only be submitted through WithoutaBox tothis deadline. The fee is £25 but WAB members can claim a £5 discount throughWAB.

11th Kinofilm International Short Film Festival - Closing date for entries!!

The 11th Kinofilm InternationalShort Film Festival is now closing it's door for entries for their 2010festival (23rd-28th Feb). Be quick and enter your short/documentary now,closing date has been extended into two deadlines, 14th Oct with afee of £15, and a final deadline of 31st Oct with a fee of £20.

Kinofilm announces the Call forEntries to its new European Short Film Festival in 2010.

The 11th edition of the Festivalwill take place in Manchester from 23rd - 28th February 2010, as a EuropeanShort Film Festival and invites submissions from all over Europe includingformer Eastern Europe and Baltic States.

Though the 2010 festival focuseson Europe there will be a limited number of entries considered fromnon-European countries for award-winning films or for those of outstandingmerit, for a special International showcase.

Kinofilm has a unique reputationfor showcasing the best short films from around the world, whilst beingrenowned for seeking out diverse, challenging and ground-breaking new film. Thefestival maintains a high standard with many European & Internationalaward-winning shorts featuring in the Festival whilst including specialprogrammes in low/no budget shorts, student shorts and underground cinema,giving new and emerging filmmakers the opportunity to have their work screenedalongside the work of critically acclaimed, established short filmmakers.

Main categories include shortdrama, animation, experimental, digital shorts, Documentary, Romantic Tales,Cinema Extreme, Comedy, Horror, Fantasy & Sci-fi, Erotica, Music Videos,Lesbian & Gay, Polish Cinema, and Bluefire (Kino's Black and Asiansection), however, the Festival welcomes shorts of any type and genre. Thefestival will also feature a youth and community led film event and welcomes submissionsfrom those working with youth based organisations.

The festival also features avaried education and professional development programme with seminars, forums,master classes, workshops and networking events. The festival will becompetitive with awards in 6 categories.

Sidebar -New Features.

New for the 2010 festival is asidebar of debut features from UK and European filmmakers that have recentlymade the transition from short film to feature or from those directors thathave moved into features from other art forms. We are looking for no more than5 films so competition will be tough. There will be a series of eventsinvolving the selected filmmakers exploring the routes of transition.

Submissions Requirements

Short films should be no longer than25 mins (except documentaries which will be allowed up to 35 mins) and must bemade within the last 18 months prior to the festival. The festival does nothave a premiere policy but there is a small entry fee of £5.00 to submit afilm, with the first deadline of 10th September . There will be an extendeddeadline for late submissions to the 30th September though this will incur ahigher submission fee. Distributors, agencies and educational institutions areexempt but should contact us first to register the exemption. Please note.Exemptions for filmmakers that submitted to the 2007-8 festival and paid theentry fee of £5 may be able to submit their film free (but must provide theirreference number and details of previous entry).

Submissions are open from 1st Julyclosing on 31st October. Regular deadline is 17th Oct with a fee of £15, finaldeadline is 31st Oct with a fee of £20. To submit a Film please email theFestival for the festival rules, regulations and procedures and applicationform:
