About the Director: 

Ashley Fairfield is a writer/director whose background as a stunt performer has seen him work on films such as Wolverine, Nim’s Island, Superman Returns, Stealth, The Matrix Reloaded, The Quiet American, Scooby Doo, Lantana, Moulin Rouge and many more.
His first short film ‘a quiet spot’ has screened at film festivals throughout Australia and internationally including Festival tous Courts, Montreal International Film Festival, St Kilda, and Palm Springs to name a few. Ashley has a dedicated interest in writing and directing stories with a strong social relevance as ‘Vinyl’ shows us.

About the Producer: 
Annmaree co‐founded Azure Productions on the principals: create, inspire, achieve. With over 15 years project management experience Annmaree’s most recent production; 'Drowning' has been selected for competition in 2010 Flickerfest, ‘Frail’ won best short at the 2008 Bondi Short Film Festival and continues to screen world wide including Tehran, Montréal and Palm Springs. In 2009 Annmaree produced ‘Vinyl’ and ‘Drowning’ both with the support of Screen Australia. Vinyl is her second venture with director Ashley Fairfield, ‘a quiet spot’ continues to screen worldwide including Montreal World Film Festival, Baltimore Women’s Film Festival, The Int'l Fest of Cinema and Technology Festival and Snowyfest to name a few. She has also produced many music videos and corporate collateral. Annmaree has ‘Darker after Midnight’ ‘Memory of Breathing’, ‘Teenage Kicks’, ‘The Last Reprieve’ and ‘Skymaze’ features in development

Film synopsis: 
Zeke is an eighteen year old Sudanese refugee living with his parents and younger brother in a small housing commission flat. He has lost one of his younger brothers to the fighting which engulfed his country and his whole family struggles with their loss as well as their new life. Zeke feels like his violent past is determining his future but finds hope for the future through the power of music.
