The World of Film Festival, formerly known as Commonwealth Film & Theatre Festival Glasgow is coming back for its second edition October 1-4 2015. In four days full of film screenings, theatre performances, live events, panel discussions and networking receptions WoFF will bring new, more vibrant and youthful vibe to the city’s emerging film and theatre scene.
WoFF will take place at the cinema of Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street).
This year, the festival comes with a new programme, transforming from a West End festival into a contemporary 4 day event that will gather audiences with various interests and tastes in film and theatre.
WoFF’s errand is to bring together audiences from Glasgow’s multi-stranded art scene, while at the same time engaging people with powerful background in film and theatre that will bring fresh ideas, filling the gaps in Glasgow’s film and theatre events’ agenda.
WoFF 2015 will include the following sections:
First Feature Competition: Will include successful submissions from first feature film directors.
The Female Perspective (In competition): Showcasing the work of female independent filmmakers.
Special Screenings (Out of Competition): A selection of films known from the festival circuit.
Best of MIAFF 2015: Animation programme including the Best of selection of the Montreal International Animation Film Festival (April 16 - 19 2015)
Commonwealth Film Student Competition: A focus on one country from within the commonwealth, which will showcase submissions from film students, currently enrolled in the major national film schools. Students can submit films as individuals or representing their school.
Additionally a Theatre Performance, staged and performed by recent graduates of the UoG’s Theatre Department, whose recent work has been selected for the upcoming FRINGE Festival.
The above will be surrounded by a masterclass from renowned filmmaker / actor or a personality with experience in working for the film industry. This event will be intensively promoted within the Glasgow’s film and theatre students’ communities who will be able to attend with special discounts.
Finally, workshops and panel discussions (e.g. on the emerging female filmmakers presence in the industry, as combined with the Female Perspective Section of the festival).
