The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition is committed to helping independent filmmakers showcase their work to a global audience while providing artists with an outlet to recoup and monetize their works. Unlike the restrictions associated with traditional film festivals, whether it be travel, expense, or accessibility, The FreeStyle Life aims to democratize the festival experience by delivering it to the palm of one's hand. Every Official Selection of The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition will be given a digital distribution deal and will be available for instant streaming on most Internet capable devices. In addition to this accessibility and our promotional services, The FreeStyle Life is taking advantage of our social media presence where viewers will be able to vote for their favorite films and filmmakers via their preferred social networks.



ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition is the premier online film exhibition that features first rate feature films, documentaries and short films from independent filmmakers across the globe. The goal of the exhibition is to discover and bring awareness to up-and-coming filmmakers and their projects. While independent filmmakers often lack a credible and authentic place to showcase their work, The FreeStyle Life prides itself on allowing filmmakers to present their work to not only their peers in the artistic community, but also the larger global community of film lovers eager to see the work of emerging filmmakers with new unique voices and visions.



The Festival is committed to helping independent filmmakers showcase and distribute their work to a global audience while providing artists with an outlet to recoup and monetize their works. The multi-platform exhibition provides content creators an innovative distribution outlet allowing them to directly monetize their films through our Video on Demand (VOD) partnerships, along with other avenues.



The 2012 FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition was an enormous success. Selected films spanned over 10 countries, ranging from Russia to Peru. Winners included Derek Frey’s short comedy The Ballad of Sandeep, Sarita Siegel’s documentary Fire Burn Babylon and Rosario García-Montero’s Peruvian film Las Malas Intenciones.



The FreeStyle Life Founder Tommy Swanhaus said, “The goal of The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition is to bring international awareness to independent filmmakers, expand the horizons of our audiences, and to tear down the barriers of film distribution.” 



Last year’s film exhibition affirmed this ideal, as the 2012 Exhibition was able to generate enough online traffic to place it among the top 10 film festival destinations in the world. The FreeStyle Life looks to build upon the foundation placed in 2012 and to continue to pave a new path for independent film in 2013.

GENERAL RULES

Submissions 

Except as otherwise provided herein, any and all comments, suggestions, ideas, graphics, videos, content, data and other information that you transmit to The FreeStyle Life, Inc. (each, a "Submission") shall remain your sole and exclusive property, and you shall be solely responsible for your Submission and the consequences of posting or publishing it. If your Submission is selected to the Exhibition, you hereby grant The FreeStyle Life, Inc. and its successors and assign a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, licensable (through multiple tiers) and transferable license (with a right to create derivative works) to use, copy, transmit or otherwise distribute, perform, publicly perform and display your Submission for any legal purposes whatsoever now known or hereinafter becomes known. Only films that are accepted to The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition shall be used by the festival as necessary.



Any Submission you provide The FreeStyle Life will be deemed public information and not subject to any confidentiality obligation and TheFreeStyleLife shall have no obligation to maintain its confidentiality except to the extent the Submission contains personal identifiable information, in which case, The FreeStyle Life, Inc.' Privacy Policy shall govern The FreeStyle Life, Inc. use of such information.



By making a Submission, you waive the right to make any claim against The FreeStyle Life, Inc. or any of its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, successors, assigns, employees, agents, directors, officers or shareholders related to the Submission, including, but not limited to, unfair competition, invasion of privacy, negligence, breach of implied contract or breach of confidentiality, and you further waive all moral rights you may have in any materials uploaded or sent to us by you. You represent and warrant that your Submission: (a) shall be true, accurate, current, complete and not misleading, (b) shall not violate the rights of any third party, including, but not limited to, intellectual property and proprietary rights, (c) shall not be fraudulent or involve counterfeit or stolen information or items, (d) shall not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation, and (e) shall not create any liability for The FreeStyle Life, Inc. or any of its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, successors, assigns, employees, agents, directors, officers and shareholders. You also agree to maintain and promptly update your Submission by means of the TheFreeStyleLife in order to keep that information true, accurate, current and complete.



You further represent and warrant that (i) you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents and permissions to use and authorize The FreeStyle Life, Inc. to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in Submission to enable inclusion and use of the Submission in the manner contemplated by this Agreement; and (ii) you have any necessary written or implied consent, release, and/or permission of each and every identifiable individual person in the Submission to use the name, picture and likeness of each and every such identifiable individual person to enable inclusion and use of the Submission in the manner contemplated by this Agreement.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Selected projects may be promoted through all media types and outlets for promotional purposes. The Term of the Exhibition concludes one month after the festival winners are announced. After the term of the Exhibition, you may opt-out of having your project included in these promotional activities by notifying The FreeStyle Life in writing via e-mail at team@thefreestylelife.com. By submitting to the FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition, you have the option of entering a non-exclusive distribution deal with The FreeStyle Life. Films accepted into The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition will be granted revenue share agreements with a majority of the proceeds (60%) going to the filmmakers. This revenue share agreement shall take effect both before The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition begins and after The FreeStyle Life Film Exhibition has been completed. Other Rules and Regulations: The FreeStyle Life Exhibition reserves the right to determine eligibility of any projects submitted. The FreeStyle Life, Inc. is not responsible for any damages or loss of your material and will not return the material sent. The FreeStyle Life, Inc. will accept works completed in DVD and Online Secured Screener, as well as Digital Media Files in MOV, MPG, MPEG, AVI or WMV format. If accepted, the producer agrees to provide the festival with the presentation format the festival indicates. For purposes of submission, all preview copies must be submitted on DVD, Online Secured Screener, or Digital Media Files in MOV, MPG, MPEG, AVI or WMV format. Final program determinations will be made available to entrants via email. Except in emergencies, please do not call the festival. I have enclosed the proper entry fee according to the instructions provided. I state that I am authorized to submit this film to the The FreeStyle Life Exhibition for consideration, and have read, understood and agree to all the requirements. I hereby release the Festival from all responsibility for loss of or damage to submitted materials. I agree that I have secured all necessary rights for both picture and sound, and exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights including but not limited to music, images, and content. I further grant The FreeStyle Life, Inc. the right to use clips from the film for both off-line and online for promotional, archival, and other commercial and non-commercial uses.
