Press release, contest details, and entry information can all be found at www.hintfictionfilm.com

Think outside of the box, other filmmakers will have the same story you do.  Although you have to use the dialogue and/or actions as described, your film doesn't have to be a literal recreation and you are open to interpret the story as you so choose. You may add dialogue and actions to the story but MUST fully use what is given to you as well. The sky is the limit.

Submission Guidelines:

    1. Once entry form and payment are received, entrant will receive two short stories to choose from, randomly selected by contest programmers (Sorry, no exceptions).

    2. Film MUST include all 25 words as written (or visuals of the actions described). May contain more words either before or after if desired.

    3. Film may be no longer than 1 minute total running time, excluding credits. (credit roll limited to 30 seconds).

    4. Film may be live action, animated, CGI, etc.

    5. Electronic submissions are preferred via a private link through YouTube, Viddler, Vimeo, Personal site, etc. (The HFFC screening committee is worldwide, and DVD screeners would be ineffective.)

    6. Submitted film may not be shown in any other Public venue or online while under consideration for the contest

    7. Entrant will allow usage of clips from the film for promotional use on television, radio, in print, and at live Festival events.

    8. All entries must be either in English or contain English subtitles. Non-English entries submitted without subtitles are not eligible.

    9. Only complete entries (including entry form, payment, and private video link) will be processed and considered.

    10. There is no limit to number of films entrants may submit, but a complete entry (including form and payment) is required for each to be considered.

Deadline:

    1. Deadline for submissions is January 15th, 2012.

Judging and Selection:

    1. Films are selected for Vail Film Festival presentation by the Hint Fiction Film Contest Programming committee.

    2. If your film is selected as a finalist to compete in the 2012 Vail Film Festival “Hint Fiction” program, you will be contacted via email by March 1st, 2012 with further details.

Entry Fees:

    1. Each entry must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee ($25.00) and are not refundable. Fees cover registration, Promotion, and inclusion into the Film Contest.

    2. Paypal is the preferred method of payment. If you do not have a paypal account, a check or money order is acceptable, however you will not be entered into the Film Contest until funds have cleared.

What are you playing for?

    1. The top 5 submissions of each story will compete in the “Hint Fiction Film” Program at the 2012 Vail Film Festival.

    2. If your film is selected to compete, you will receive 2 filmmaker passes to the 2012 Vail Film Festival.

    3. The “best Hint Fiction film”, as chosen by a celebrity panel and audience votes, will win a prize package including cash and sponsor gifts. (Full value of prize package still TBD but will be worth in excess of a minimum of $500.)

    4. If your film is selected to compete, your entry fee will be waived for a future submission to the Vail Film Festival.
