DOK.fest.MünchenDOK.fest Munich gives a review of the most important documentary films of the year with an emphasis on the promotion of creative documentary films. The festival presents filmographies of well-known filmmakers and supports filmmakers from so called `low production countries´ - initiating sustainable liaisons between established artists and newcomers. For the coming DOK.fest we accept with a duration of at least 52 minutes, which must have been completed after January 1st 2023 and must not have been shown in German public television yet. For our School program DOK.education we look for professional short films (10 to 30 minutes) showing powerful stories about kids and adolescents (8 to 18 years), told in an artistic and creative way. Submission deadlines: DOK.fest: December 18th, 2023 DOK.education: December 18th, 2023

The three main competitions DOK.international, DOK.horizonte and DOK.deutsch gather current highlights of the socially relevant and artistically valuable documentary film. The retrospective is devoted to outstanding international documentary filmmakers. In the section DOK.guest, filmmakers from our guest region present their country from their own perspective, while the topic section focuses on new tendencies of documentary filmmaking. Every year, the Student Award presents a selection of the best works from German-speaking film schools. |
