Entry for Cornwall Film Festival 2012 is now open!

AWARDS 2012:

The Delabole Slate Golden Chough Award

To be awarded to the film that best captures the spirit of the 2012 Festival.

Eligibility: All Cornish entries in the Cornwall Film Festival: shorts and

features.

Jury: The Cornwall Film Festival team

Prize: The Delabole Slate Golden Chough (this is a non-cash prize)

The Delabole Slate Film of the Festival Award

The audience will vote for its favourite Cornish film from any of the 2012 main screenings.

Eligibility: All films selected for the main Cornish Shorts screenings are

eligible to win this award, regardless of length or genre.

Jury: Festival Audience

Prize: The Delabole Slate Award (this is a non-cash prize)

Jury Award: Best Cornish Short Film of the Festival

This will be awarded to the best Cornish short film in the 2012 Festival.

Eligibility: All films in the Cornish shorts competition are eligible to win this award regardless of genre.

Jury: A select panel of UK media industry professionals.

Prize: £400 cash award, sponsored by St Austell Brewery

Jury Award: The Decent Exposure Newcomers Award

This will be awarded to the best UK newcomers short film in the 2012 Festival.

Eligibility: All films in the student competition are eligible to win this award regardless of genre.

Jury: A select panel of film industry professionals plus film and media students.

Prize: TBC

‘Films Without Borders’ International Short Film Award

To be awarded to the best international short film.

Eligibility: Short films submitted from anywhere in the world will be deemed eligible for competition and screening by a pre-selection panel.

Jury: A select panel of film industry professionals plus film and media lecturers.

Prize: TBC

‘On the Edge’ Short Film Award

To be awarded by a jury of independent judges to the best experimental, art or non-narrative film.

Eligibility: Short films from anywhere in the world will be deemed eligible for competition and screening by a pre-selection panel.

Jury: A select panel of film studies lecturers, artists and filmmakers.

Prize: £100, sponsored by Falmouth Art Gallery

‘Reel Women’ Short Film Award

A jury of industry professionals will select the best short film directed by a woman.

Eligibility: Short films of any genre, from anywhere in the world, directed by a woman.

Jury: A panel of professional filmmakers and industry experts

Prize: TBC

Spider Eye Animation Award

To be awarded by a jury of industry professionals for the best animated short film in the Eye-Toons category.

Eligibility: Animated short films from anywhere in the UK.

Jury: Representatives from Spider Eye Animations and industry professionals

Prize: £500, sponsored by Spider Eye Animations.

DECENT EXPOSURE UK Newcomers Short Film Competition

entries of any genre from anywhere in the UK.

Qualifiers for newcomers Films:

• Maximum length: 20 minutes (approx.)

• Filmmakers must be either a student or an up-and-coming filmmaker

• Films must have been completed since January 2011.

Award: Jury Award - Decent Exposure Newcomers Award

EYE-TOONS ANIMATION COMPETITION

This is a competitive category for short animated films submitted from anywhere in the UK

Qualifiers for Eye-Toons

Maximum length: 15 minutes (approx.)

Films can originate from anywhere in the UK

Films must have been completed since January 2011

Award: Spider Eye Animation Award

FILMS WITHOUT BORDERS International Short Film Competition

This category is for short films of any genre, from anywhere in the world.

Qualifiers for Without Borders

Maximum length: 15 minutes (approx.)

Films can originate from anywhere in the world

Films must have been completed since January 2011

Award: Without Borders International Short Film Award

MADE IN KERNOW

We take pride in the growing Cornish film industry, and a key aim of the Festival is showcasing films where at least one of the creative team (writer, director, producer) is resident in Cornwall. We accept films that have a strong link to Cornwall or Cornish culture by non-resident filmmakers – e.g., a film that has been wholly or mostly shot in Cornwall.

Films of all genres will be accepted into this category and films of any length, though films over 20 minutes will not be eligible for the Jury Award.

Qualifiers for Made in Kernow:

The writer, director or producer must be currently resident in Cornwall, OR the film must demonstrate a strong link to Cornwall.

Only films under 20 minutes in length will be eligible for the Jury Award.

Films must have been completed since January 2011.

REEL WOMEN

A categorie celebrating and promoting women film directors. Short films of any genre made by female directors will be accepted from anywhere in the world.

Qualifiers for Reel Women:

Maximum length: 15 minutes (approx.)

The director of the film must be a woman

Films can originate from anywhere in the world

Films must have been completed since January 2011

Award: Reel Women Short Film Award

THE EDGE – Experimental / Art / Non-narrative Films

The Edge includes experimental, art and non-narrative films from anywhere in the world.

Qualifiers for The Edge:

Maximum length: 15 minutes (approx.)

Films can originate from anywhere in the world

Films must have been completed since January 2011

Award: On the Edge Award

Cornwall Film Festival entry fees are required to help cover the administrative and technical costs incurred by processing submissions. Film submitters are entitled to free entry to the screening of their film at the Festival (worth at least £5).

How to Enter Your Film into the 2010 Cornwall Film Festival

Before entering your film into the Cornwall Film Festival, please ensure you have read and understood the terms and conditions for entry.

The Festival promotes online submissions to reduce the use of paper.

Screen Actions entry forms will be available to download here soon.

Please note that you will need to submit both a standard DVD of your film + a QuickTime master as well as two jpeg still images from your film to the Festival office by the submission deadline with a cheque for the correct submission fee (if applicable; see deadlines and fees above).
