No matter how often, or how much I enjoy belting out Whitney's "One Moment in Time", my neighbors can attest to the fact that I should not participate in this competition. But perhaps you can!

Online, on-air and in person, this is BUFF. And so said the voice of BUFF which greeted the masses of online followers with the May 31 announcement of this year’s opening feature. And though the dulcet tones of Ewan Allinson and DJ Elayne Smith will continue to form a cornerstone of the BUFF movement, things are going to be a little bit different round here. From September, the 2011 British Urban Film Festival will be coming at ya with a whole new look which means, finally, that the buffest fi...
For many people, British urban cinema came into its’ own with the premiere of ‘Adulthood’ on June the 20th 2009. 2 years on, the genre has now spawned its’ first spoof with the cheekily titled Anuvahood. It was at the Adulthood premiere when BUFF first caught up with messyrs Aml Ameen & Kamara Bacchus. It wasn’t your standard red carpet interview. Such is the beauty of the English language that a word can mean so many things to so many people – let’s just say the word BUFF wa...
Some people call it a newsletter, most delete it from their inbox, others try to emulate it, and for the rest of you – well, going online isn’t quite the same until you’ve received it... its’ the BUFF Blog!!!
Until recently, most BUFF blogs were written by the BUFF ghostwriter. In the 2 years since the advent of the UK’s 1st ever film festival monthly blog, a variety of voices from the world of film and TV have been invited to offer their own unique voice on the industry by whi...
PanelsWelcome to the IFFF. Providing professional panels and networking opportunities for aspiring filmmakers to meet with established leaders in the industry is central to IFFF's mission. This month’s blog is guest written by Janice Charles, newly appointed social media strategist for BUFF Enterprises.
Well first of all, I don’t want to be seen as a guest because I actually work for BUFF Enterprises. I was actually given permission to hijack Emmanuel’s email accounts and write whatever I liked which in my opinion would continue to get the word out regarding BUFF. Now we all know that Emmanuel could speak for England when it comes to BUFF so I actually offered to pu...
No matter how many times BUFF ventures down to Soho to get entertained, the result is always the same. And no matter how you dress it up, January is almost invariably a month-long period of attrition, angst and apathy. So it seemed perfectly reasonable to expect a good time to be had when yours truly was invited down to Soho on a cold and wet Friday evening for a preview screening of ‘David is Dying’ – the debut feature-length drama penned, and produced by Stephen Lloyd Jackson and Andy ...
September 25th, 2010 § Leave a Comment“Waiting for Mark Zuckerberg”Article by Sharon AbellaIronically, Davis Guggenheim’s latest documentary, “Waiting for Superman”, a film about America’s failing school systems, opened the same week that co-founder of “Facebook”, Mark Zuckerberg, is about to have his reputation tarnished as a result of the way he was portrayed in the film “Social Network”. Just days before the film’s premiere at “The New York Film Festival”, Mark do...

We had lunch last Saturday with Michael Nash the director of Climate Refugees which has a free screening today at the LA film festival. The film focuses on Bangladesh, Chad, China, Kenya, Tuvalu, and the USA and promises to be a riveting 89 minutes.
“Climate Refugees” is a term few people outside the U.S. military and U.N. circles are familiar with until now. This illuminating documentary takes the next step after An Inconvenient Truth and examines...
Third Annual Los Angeles Music Video Festival will run May 1st-4th, 2013.
Submission deadline is February 15th.
Music videos are powerful creative units that serve many purposes. They are marketing tools for bands, promotional reels for filmmakers, storytelling experiments...they are perhaps the most flexible, visceral and accessible film format, purely focused on the combination of sound and image. And yet, music videos have all but disappeared from television, even as the number of music videos being produced has burgeoned. YouTube, Vimeo and MySpace may "house" videos, but there is less and less opportunity for videos to be showcased and celebrated. A precious few receive the attention they deserve.
The Los Angeles Music Video Festival exists with one purpose: to celebrate the art of the music video. While many film festivals have music video categories, there was no annual live festival in the United States (and only a handful in the world) dedicated to the format 100%. LAMVF provides a unique opportunity for aspiring musicians and aspiring filmmakers to showcase their music videos. More importantly, the Festival will bring together the independent music and independent film communities of Los Angeles in a celebration of local musical talent and creativity like never before.
After two great years, the Los Angeles Music Video Festival (LAMVF) is thrilled to announce it's 3rd Annual festival will be held over four evenings at the beautiful Downtown Independent Theater May 1-4, 2013. If you make music, make videos, like music videos or know anyone who does, come be a part of the movement to save music videos.

With the election imminent, it is widely assumed that out of the 650 odd MP’s who represent their various constituencies up and down the UK, half of them will have to find new employment after the electorate have had their say. There will be a fair few MP’s doing their utmost to hold on to their jobs, those who are not tainted by the expenses affair to name but 1 plague on all the MP’s houses (in some cases, literally). And whilst issues such as housing, immigration, jobs and the economy...

In our ever-evolving digital world, filmmakers push distribution farther by using the outlet that reaches the widest audience possible: the Internet.
In October, it wasn't uncommon that Sundance Film Festival Shorts Programmer Jon Korn added an extra hour of screening time to his routine 12-hour block. However, instead of picking up another title from the pile of literally thousands of unwatched films, he turned his focus to the online ether. Labeling it 'the only type of multitasking I c...

Amsterdam has a rather valid reputation as a refuge for the not completely normal. Misfits from across the continent and across the seas find the city's open nature and history of tolerance a welcoming invitation. So, when an Amsterdam institution like IDFA, the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, announces a program entitled "Not Normal", the mind only boggles. In fact, one of the key themes at this year's Festival is the theme of unconventionality ...

The top 20 independent productions grossed about $50 million during first half of 2009 compared to the July 19 weekend gross of $80 million for the latest Harry Potter sequel. Indie's US revenues for the first half of 2009 are estimated to be about half of what it was scored last year. Whereas in all of 2008 20 studio films netted more than $100 million, it took only seven month into 2009 to reach that number, thus leading to a significant increase of high grossing studio films.
