The Isle of Wight International Film Festival started it's run of Fancy Dress film shows, with a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in it's original format at one of the festival's venues in Ryde Isle of Wight. The evening proved a great hit with a number of die hard RHPS fans, many of whom came dressed up for the event.
Over the next 5 months the Festival team will be running various special film events to highlight the genres of films that will be shown.

The Ryde International Film Festival team has received some exciting films in the last 2 days.
The Altruist a comic film noir which is highly thought provoking
Track 16 a well filmed thriller with an interesting twist
and
Metroscopic an alternative look at time and our perceptions of time.
So far we will be having a very varied programme of films for people to watch and enjoy.

approaching, the final early bird entry date is 31st May. So don't miss
the boat save yourself some money and get those entries in!

The IOWIFF Team have been having a few thoughts about films older
than 5 years that may have not ever had a public viewing so we have
changed our rules a bit and updated them so that if you do have what we
are refering to as 'HIDDEN GEMS' you can dig them out and send the film
in to us.
The category Hidden Gems is for those films that
were made years ago that you think could do with a public viewing. It
doesn't matter how old as long as you can get them onto a DVD we would

We have received an interesting array of films in our first submissions from a short 11 second Stop Action Animation entered by a 13 yr old!, to a wonderful fun film about "100 Uses for a Handkerchief" produced by a husband and wife team. Our latest entry is about a giant pet hamster. We look forward to receiving more querky and sureal films.

Ryde International Film Festival Isle of Wight (IOWIFF) are currently adding short clips to the website so that users and subscribers can get an idea of different genres. The clips will also have captioing added to them so that the films are accessible to all site users.
We are also looking into providing a system by which users can have the site read out to them, which is useful for users who do not speak english as a second language.
