Uranium Film FestivalThe International Uranium Film Festival is dedicated to all films (movies, documentaries, animated films, image films, art, fiction and non-fiction) about any nuclear issue: uranium mining, nuclear power plants, nuclear accidents, atomic bombs, nuclear waste, radioactive risks: From Hiroshima to Fukushima. It is an annual and global film festival with travelling festivals in other countries and cities. The best and most important films of the year receive the festival Award or a Special Recognition. The Uranium Film Festival Award is a piece of art created by Brazilian waste-material-artist Getúlio Damado, who lives and works in the famous artist quarter Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro. Getúlio uses waste material that he finds in the streets of Santa Teresa and old, broken watches to remember the first atomic bomb dropped over Hiroshima. Watches in Hiroshima stopped exactly at 8:15 in the morning when the A-bomb exploded on August 6th, 1945.  Meet 15 Atomic Filmmakers & Producers
Uranium Film Festival Berlin Press Release: Films and discussions about nuclear power in October in Berlin
Hiroshima, Chernobyl, Goiânia, Fukushima: Meet nuclear filmmakers in Berlin and and discuss the question of nuclear power. From 10 the 15th October 2017 the in he world unique International Uranium Film Festival will screen 28 films from all over the world in the cinema of the Kulturbrauerei. 13 filmmakers and producers will be present for Q&A sessions after the screenings: Larbi Benchiha (France/Algeria), Timothy Large (England), Cris Ubermann (France),Benedito Ferreira (Brazil), Serhiy Zabolotny (Ukraine), Tamotsu Matsubara (Japan), Masako Sakata (Japan), Sophie Filip and Robert Cordes, Moritz Schulz, Michael Saup, Marco Kühne and Michael Sladek (Germany)
Also in Berlin present several special guests like MdB Klaus Mindrup, Member of the German Parliament and of the commission for environment and nuclear safety, Odesson Alves Ferreira, surviving victium of Brazil's radioactive Cesium-137-accident and the filmmakers David Newbigging from Scotland and Peter Anthony from Denmark.
In addition the Uranium Film Festival offers the opportunity to see the new photo exhibition "Chernobyl of Brazil / Brasiliens Tschernobyl" in the Kulturbrauerei. The exhibition by investigative journalist and photographer Norbert Suchanek tells the story of Latin America’s worst radioactive accident that happened exactly 30 years ago in September 1987 in the city of Goiânia, the capital of Goiás state. Hundreds of people were contaminated with radioactive Cesium-137.
