The 20th San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival Calls for Entries!!

Since its inception in 2003, the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival has successfully passed through 19 starry years, winning recognition from kids’ film creators and fans in Hollywood and around the world. As an annual kids’ film festival, the 2023 San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival will take place in Southern California in late August. Known for its sunny summers and long, beautiful Pacific coastline, San Diego is close to Hollywood, the heart of the world's film industry. With the theme and purpose of "Making Movies for Kids, Making Movies by Kids," the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival is based on the competitive film industry, introducing world culture and film production technology to kids and allowing filmmakers from all over the world to experience the first-class standards of Hollywood film production. As a leader in the field of kids’ film festivals around the world, the organizing committee of the Film Festival has been invited to participate in international kids’ film festivals in different countries around the globe as VIP, helping to research, guide and promote the advanced hosting mode of global kids’ film festivals. Each year, hundreds of films from more than 40 countries are entered into the categories, and the winner of each category will be determined by the scores of Hollywood's professional judges and the unique kids judges of the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival, who will present the certificates of official selections and award on site. All the shortlisted films will have the opportunity to be screened by filmmakers and fans from around the world during the festival. The festival's organizing committee will also arrange a Q&A session for filmmakers planning to attend the festival so that filmmakers can hear the real feelings of the live audience for the first time.

Even under the severe test of the global pandemic in 2020, the organizing committee of the Film Festival persisted in overcoming all difficulties, enabled the filmmakers to participate in the 2020 Film Festival, successfully completed the online film judging, and successfully produced and launched the first online award ceremony of the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival. Professional Hollywood movie stars and practitioners presented awards online, and all the winners made their acceptance speeches, writing a new chapter that will never fade. The experience of film participants and fans is of the utmost importance to the festival's organizing committee and staff, wherever and whenever possible. In 2021, for the first time, three major cultural events of Maeya held simultaneously presented the first live award ceremony after the epidemic. In 2022, the 19th San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival returned to its glorious San Diego coastal home base, welcoming friends from around the world like in the past.

This year, the festival also launched the SDIKFF Youth Ambassador selection process to showcase the professional talent of young filmmakers better. The winning ambassador will represent the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival at next year's global Film Festivals. Meanwhile, professional actors will perform excellent scripts at the festival, allowing film producers, producers, and directors from all over the world to enjoy the charm of screenwriting. Kids’ filmmakers who participate in the reading and acting will also have the opportunity to receive professional guidance from the Hollywood Actors Guild's senior casting consultant. Every aspiring star and parent of the film industry should seize the opportunity to fully prepare for the rise of this shining star. Actors interested in participating in the festival can also sign up for a live performance. The San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival has always been committed to opening a window to Hollywood for filmmakers from around the world to provide aspiring filmmakers with more possibilities for the future.

During the Film Festival, the organizing committee still plans to arrange themed panels and face-to-face guidance activities, covering all aspects of film production to help exhibitors and frontline Hollywood producers exchange experience on the spot, jointly discuss the development and design of future film shooting skills and help young people with film dreams to further understand the real world of film. Since 2012, the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival has set up a young people's short film competition to cultivate kids’ enthusiasm for the film industry and provide all the young people who love movies with the opportunity and platform to show themselves. The festival organizing committee will also hold an international kids’ film camp in early summer. All the kids attending the camp will have a chance to walk the red carpet at the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival Awards! For interested parents and children, please keep track of the latest updates at the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival. Don't miss this rare opportunity!

Over the past 19 years, the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival has remained a place of refuge for children, welcoming people from all over the world, no matter how difficult things have changed around us. In 2023, the festival eagerly anticipates the complete lifting of the international travel ban.
