Strangeness, 8 bit videogame culture, and Japanese Anime = WE ARE THE STRANGE
Saturday, January 20- Sundance showcased the world premiere of WE ARE THE STRANGE at the festival's first Midnight screening of the 2007 festival. Many have gotten a glimpse of the trailer on YouTube.com which has already attracted over 600,000 views. The major accomplishment of this movie is that it is the first-ever digitally animated feature of its kind at Sundance. Director M dot Strange developed a new style of animation which is called Str8nime. M dot Strange spent 10 years developing this unique style which he states combines strangeness, 8 bit videogame culture, and Japanese Anime.
Although, the theater was nearly full, many audience members were lost in the strangeness. This less than ordinary film pushed the boundaries in digital filmmaking, but stayed true to the title...definitely strange.
