German films in Sundance
This year, the festival will be held online via an online platform developed by Sundance itself and offline at satellite screenings throughout the country. In addition, festival-goers will be able to gather in virtual spaces, participate in live Q&As and meet up in new, inspiring online environments to interact in a variety of ways.
The German-Italian-Danish co-production HUMAN FACTORS by Ronny Trocker will have its world premiere in the Sundance Film Festival's Main Competition. The lives of Jan and Nina are thrown out of kilter by a conflict in the successful advertising agency they run together. A weekend on the Belgian coast is intended to help save their marriage. But, on arriving at the family's holiday home, they and their two children become victims of a mysterious burglary. At first, the frightening incident seems to be welding the family back together again, but then differing perceptions of the event threaten to destroy the fragile family idyll once more.
German Films has a presence at Sundance Industry in cooperation with European Film Promotion and will also be using this platform to promote the program of KINO! Germany NOW! 2021 Discover New Talent promoted by the German Film Office. The film package consists of nine recent feature-length films which have been curated by Alissa Simon, a US film expert with many years of experience in festival and cinema programming.
A showreel will be presented at Sundance with Wendy Lidell (Kino Lorber) talking with Alissa Simon about the film selection and providing deeper insights into how the program was put together. It will also feature trailers of each film as well as the package trailer (1 minute).
