CONCERNING VIOLENCE Receives World Premiere at 2014 Sundance Film Festival

Story AB and Louverture Films are pleased to announce the 2014 Sundance Film Festival world premiere of CONCERNING VIOLENCE, the powerful new documentary from Göran Hugo Olsson, director of the Sundance Award-winning THE BLACK POWER MIXTAPE. A startlingly relevant perspective on colonization then and now, and featuring narration by singer Lauryn Hill, the film will screen in the festival’s World Cinema Documentary Competition.



CONCERNING VIOLENCE is a fresh and bold visual narrative, documenting the liberation from colonial rule in the ‘60s and ‘70s in Africa. Incorporating fascinating and illuminating archival footage, the film depicts some of the most daring moments ever captured during the anti-colonialist struggle. Drawn from Frantz Fanon’s still-evocative landmark book “The Wretched of the Earth” and narrated by socially engaged musician Lauryn Hill, CONCERNING VIOLENCE is an emotionally resonant cinematic essay, which confronts the dehumanizing mechanisms of colonialism of the past to illuminate the urgent need for change in the present.
