ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The 5th Sydney Latin American Film Festival

and once again this year will recognise the Best Feature Film, Best Documentary
and Best Short as voted by our audiences with cash prizes. The Festival will
also once again feature Australian-based films in a local filmmakers’ session and
present the prestigious the local filmmaker award and accompanying prize.

Our 2009 Audience Award winners were:

Films must be contemporary Latin American
or International and related to Latin America in terms of content, production
or co-production. This includes feature films, documentaries, animations,
shorts and videos produced in the last 2 years. Films that have already
screened in Sydney, Australia are not eligible to enter.

The director of the opening night film is
invited to the Festival to introduce their film and also participate in associated
activities such as master classes and/or workshops. We have had the pleasure of
guest filmmakers such as Juan Carlos Cremata (Cuba), Jorge Carmona (Peru), Juan
Fischer (Colombia), Mauricio Arriagada (Chile), Vinicius Reis and Gisela Camara
(Brazil) who all presented their films.

As a not-for-profit community organisation,
proceeds from the Festival are directed back into Latin American community
organizations through our Community Support Program.

Submissions can be made until 30 April 2010
using the online submission system on the festival website:
