RIFF 7, 2021, 03: Pierre Filmon to be honouredRIFF 7, 2021, 03: Pierre Filmon to be honoured Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF), accredited by the Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI, North Region), organised by the RIFF Film Club, in a Hybrid Format, from 20 to 24th March 2021, will be held in Jaipur and Jodhpur, Rajasthan - India. This year, the theme for the RIFF 2021 is "Music in Cinema". RIFF 2021 will also celebrate the Pre Foundation Day of Rajasthan. Founder/Festival Director Somendra Harsh announced yesterday “French Screenwriter, Producer and Golden Camera & Golden Eye nominated Director Pierre Filmon will be awarded the Honorary Award for Excellence for Contribution in International Cinema at the festival.” Pierre Filmon has made four short films that were screened in 50 Film Festivals before his 80min-documentary, "Close Encounters With Vilmos Zsigmond” (who he considers to be his guru) which was chosen for the Official Selection at Cannes in 2016, and was shown in 17 international Film Festivals, before its theatrical release in France & in Hungary. It is now available on DVD and on Amazon Prime US, UK, Germany and Japan. His new 74-minute feature film, "Long Time No See", has been selected in 22 International Film Festivals, which includes 42nd Moscow International Film Festival, 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival, 18th Morelia International Film Festival, 51st International Film Festival of India, Goa, January 2021, and now will be screened in the 7th Rajasthan International Film Festival 2021. The film will be released in France before summer 2021. Long Time No See was among the most appreciated films at Goa. Filmon studied screenwriting at the Famous French Film School "LA FEMIS". He worked with Budd Schulberg (1954 Academy Award winner for "On the Waterfront” and on a screenplay titled “A Dream Last Night". Pierre is also a long-standing member of the Cinemathèque Française and the prestigious A.R.P. In 2017, he served as a Member of the Jury at the Vilmos Zsigmond Film Festival in Széged (Hungary), The Documentary Festival in Valenciennes (France), as well as the Cannes Film Festival, for the Volcano Prize of the Official Competition in 2017, giving the Prize to “The Square”. The Opening Ceremony of the Rajasthan International Film Festival, like the previous year will be held at the Open Theatre of the Jawahar Kala Kendra, in Jaipur on 20th March 2021. Thereafter, film screenings, Open Forums, Talk Shows and much more will be held for the next four days, from 21 to 24 March 2021, in Jodhpur, culminating in the Closing Ceremony, the grand RIFF Award Night 2021, which will be held, in Jodhpur on 24 March 2021. Entries are invited for the Short, Documentary, Animation, Feature, Regional, Rajasthani, and Music Albums. The films can be submitted at www.riffjaipur.org, and also through FilmFreeWay.
