ConnecTechAsia 2018, June 26-28, Singapore: Exhibition ReviewConnecTechAsia 2018, June 26-28, Singapore: Exhibition Review Asia’s mega technology event premièred, with much acclaim from attendees. ConnecTechAsia encompassed 3 focused shows – BroadcastAsia, CommunicAsia and NXTAsia, and represented the convergence of technologies and industries. Across 2 venues and a total of 67,000sqm, the event welcomed close to 40,000 attendees from around the world. The event kicked off with an Opening Address by Mr S. Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information, Singapore, and continued with content-rich keynotes by Alibaba Cloud International, Google Cloud, Singtel, Mediacorp, BBC Worldwide, Netflix, Telenor Connexion, and more. Throughout all three days, both venues witnessed a whirlwind of action with the presence of more than 1,800 exhibitors from 52 countries/regions, including 40 international group pavilions, 4 technology-dedicated zones and more than 20 complimentary activities. Level 1 of Marina Bay Sands featured Asia’s largest contingent of satellite companies, including major players like AsiaSat, Atos, Eutelsat, Work Microwave, and more. Visitors caught the latest products and solutions as they were treated to more than 900 product launches at ConnecTechAsia2018. At NXTAsia, Huawei demonstrated their latest smart city solutions for enterprises and held a 3-day seminar--eco-Connect--alongside the event. Hands-on demonstrations at BroadcastAsia allowed visitors to get a feel of the capabilities of the product / solution and gave them a chance to forge valuable connections with exhibitors. Visitors’ comments “My priority in visiting ConnecTechAsia is mainly networking and also looking for new products/technologies. Having visited this event for the past 20 years, connecting myself with my partners through this event is important to me, because these networking opportunities do bring business to my company,” Mr Charlie T. Fernando, President, CLIX. “ConnecTechAsia is a good platform as it gathers everyone within the industry from all over the world at one place. It serves as a meeting place for all my vendors, whom I do not get to meet but liaised with only through emails. It is a must to come to the show to get connected,” Mr Jeroen Roeper, Vice President--Broadcast Technical Operations, Fox Networks Group. “The exhibition consists of attendees from different industries, such as trade, technical and governing bodies. ConnecTechAsia is a must attend show, as it features the future in connectivity which opens the way for people from all over the world to connect,” Mr. Indrawan Suparan, Country Manager Indonesia, SAF Tehnika AS. “I have been visiting the show for many years. This show has helped bring millions of dollars to my company. This year, I was able to achieve my purpose and objective of sourcing for relevant telecommunication partners for the company,” Mr Malcolm A Kelly, Managing Director, MAICD. Exhibitors’ Testimonials “All in all, we must have had 450-500 visitors to our booth across the 3-days of the event. We made great connections and validated interest from different countries. I am quite positive that exhibiting in this event will turn out to be one of the wisest marketing spends for us,” Mr. Rohit Gupta, Founder, Crux Labs. “At ConnecTechAsia, we were able to work with our partners to maximise their brand exposure in Asia, whose fast growing economies are driving growing demand for consumer goods,” Vadzim Tsitou, Partner in Asia, Kino-mo. “It’s a great opportunity to come to an event like this (ConnecTechAsia) where you’ve got the whole community descending on Singapore for 2 to 3 days. You get the chance to see a lot of people, so it’s a great event for AsiaSat,” Barrie Woolston, CCO, AsiaSat. “Asia is extremely vibrant. It has a fantastic economic growth rate; it has the youngest and most productive population, so this is really where the opportunities are for us as a global company. We look at Asia as our growth market… We sell primarily to the service providers and the satellite operators, large and small, and most if not all of the relevant ones have been at the show,” Sjoerd De Clerck, Sales VP, Newtec. 15.07.2018 | Siraj Syed's blog
