The 9th Annual Shortie Awards - International Film and News Festival highlights the work of students ages 7-18 and their teachers. Entry deadline for 2010 is April 9.

An interesting article

I recently read an interesting report, written by the folks at the Academy for Educational Development's Youth Media Reporter. While we all at The Shortie Awards knew the importance of giving young media creators a space to promote their work - that's why we exist! What's interesting is the call for youth media organizations to collaborate because that's what we're interested in doing! At an international level, we would like to form a consortium with other youth media organizations and focus on a) defining/creating pipelines so youth-created media is seen/heard and b) ensuring young people have the skills to create media.

Thoughts?
