San Francisco Green Film Festival

San Francisco Green Film Festival

Be part of San Francisco’s leading event for films & discussions that spark green ideas and actions.

At Green Film Fest 2018, we shared the world’s most urgent stories, from the California wildfires to vanishing islands in the Pacific, and the melting Arctic tundra. These were powerful stories of inspiration and hope, of people who are rising up to fight for environmental justice.

For nine days – September 6-14 – at venues including the Castro Theatre, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center, audiences saw compelling environmental films; connected with filmmakers and experts; and participated in discussions that spark green ideas & action.

For Green Film Fest 2019, we are seeking compelling and relevant new films on the environment & sustainability. We are particularly interested in stories that are by or about indigenous peoples, women, or present new economic models. The festival is open to new or established filmmakers from anywhere in the world and there are no restrictions on length or genre. All entries are eligible for the Festival’s Awards.

As well as the opportunity to screen your film to our San Francisco audiences, being a part of the Festival will connect you with local partners to support the ongoing success & impact of your film. Here’s what our 2017 filmmakers are saying…

About San Francisco Green Film Festival

(San Francisco Green Film Festival)

Join us at the 9th San Francisco Green Film Festival, September 11 - September 18, 2019 -- the Bay Area’s leading movement for films and conversations about people and the planet.

Now heading into its ninth year, the annual festival and year-round screenings add up to over 200 compelling and relevant environmental film programs. Each festival presents carefully-curated, new films from both established and emerging filmmakers. They have all provided a participatory space for the eco-savvy and green-curious to meet filmmakers, environmental experts and campaigners to watch, discuss, and create ideas for a better world.

The core of SFGFF programs is to bring audiences the films, expertise and participation that gives them a chance to find their thing, their environmental passion, then hook on and act on it.
