Savannah Film Festival
Hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Savannah Film Festival features the best in independent and innovative film from around the world. From feature-length films to two-minute shorts, the annual festival presents a full range of cinematic creativity from both award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers. The SCAD Savannah Film Festival 25th-Anniversary was in full swing with days 3 and 4 with even more exciting programming and screenings. Sandy Powell was honored with the inaugural Variety Creative Impact in Costume Design Award, Miles Teller was an honored guest after the screening of Top Gun: Maverick, Mia Goth accepted the Lumière Award following the screening of Pearl, Henry Selick accepted the Outstanding Achievement in Animation Award following the screening of Wendell & Wild, and Janelle Monáe accepted the Spotlight Award (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery). Additional guests in attendance were actor Micheal Ward (Empire of Light) writer Domee Shi (Turning Red), director and producer Sara Dosa (Fire Of Love), producer Shane Boris (Fire Of Love), director, writer and producer Apo W. Celebrating its 25th year, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival and competitions provide SCAD students with opportunities as unique as the selected films. This year, the festival received more than 1,500 submissions for the competition series. During the festival, students from every academic discipline connect with leaders from the entertainment industry through master classes, coffee talks, lectures, workshops, and panel discussions. Savannah, a premier film hub in the Southeast, promotes quality movies produced by independent and studio filmmakers.
