Eusko Label micro-short film competition launches

boletin_1659.jpg?t=20230816115211

The San Sebastian Festival and HAZI, a public company of the Basque Government Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, promote the Eusko Label micro-short film competition in the endeavour to spread news of and support locally sourced produce

Two prizes of 6,000 and 4,000 euros reward the best works, with a maximum runtime of three minutes and filmed using a mobile phone

The San Sebastian Festival and the Basque Government through HAZI call the Euskal Label micro-short film competition, an initiative aiming to draw attention to locally sourced produce from the Basque Country through the cinema, and to boost and promote all aspects related to sustainability in our agricultural, livestock and fishing world.

The short films must run for a maximum of three minutes and be filmed with a mobile phone. The deadline for submissions opens today, 16 August, and closes on 12 September.

All of the selected films compete for two Eusko Label awards, a first prize of 6,000 going to the best short film and a second prize of 4,000 euros, to be decided by a dedicated jury appointed by the Festival and the Basque Government. The two winning shorts will be screened within the Festival framework and the awards will be presented at the closing gala, to take place on Saturday 30 September in the Kursaal Auditorium.

The registration form can be found on the San Sebastian Festival website. The selected films must be submitted in their original language and the Festival will provide additional electronic subtitles into Basque or Spanish where necessary.

This proposal is part of the San Sebastian Festival’s commitment to the Basque primary sector and to sustainability, initiatives translating into a variety of measures to reduce the impact of its carbon footprint while spreading information and raising awareness on the environment, alongside others such as the Euskadi Basque Country Agenda 2030 Award.
