SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVE LAUNCHED AT IFFI, GOA
PARENTS OF SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN TO SHARE EXPERIENCES WITH FILMMAKERS
For the first time ever, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa has included social responsibility and inclusivity as part of the festival program. Accordingly, the 42nd edition of IFFI will feature on Nov 27, a session in which parents of children with special needs will give film makers, media and delegates, a glimpse into the lives of these children through three small films titled ‘JANAM’, ‘AAGAZH’ and ‘PARVAAZ’.
The films have been produced by Shalini Gupta, Neena Wagh and Kusum Tiwari, three mothers who set up an informal group named‘SAATH’ ( the Hindi language word for "together" ) to sensitize film makers and delegates about the needs of differently abled children and their families.
Elaborating on the IFFI's decision, IFFI Director Shankar Mohan informed presspersons that "cinema has always been about social change and awareness which is why IFFI has given a platform to these brave parents."
