Red Sea: Immersive… Storytelling of the Future!

In collaboration with Art Jameel, the Red Sea International Film Festival is excited to invite you to an experience that’s out of this world!

Red Sea: Immersive is an exciting programme of virtual reality experiences, running from 7 to 15 December. Hosted at Jeddah’s new creative complex, Hayy Jameel, Red Sea: Immersive features an array of award-winning international artists and directors, presenting 21 projects from 23 countries. The selection includes 13 of the most significant VR works produced in 2021, which will be presented in competition for the Golden Yusr Immersive Award.

The programme promises to appeal to all types of audiences, carrying everything from immersive documentaries, animations and interactive narratives to games, art and virtual world explorations. Using a VR headset, you will get to step into the shoes of a character and journey through a story world.

As part of the programme, Liz Rosenthal, the curator of Red Sea Immersive and Lead Curator of Venice VR at the Venice International Film Festival, will lead the In-Conversation with legendary multimedia, avant garde and creative presentation pioneer Laurie Anderson. The talk is free entry and will take place on 12 December, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Hayy Jameel courtyard. Find more details on the talk here.

Red Sea Immersive Schedule

●      7-15 December

●      Saturday to Thursday:  11:00 a.m. - 11:15 p.m.

●      Fridays: 2:00 p.m. - 00:00 midnight

Guests can book one-hour slots, allowing them to view any of the projects in the Red Sea: Immersive selection. (Please make sure not to book the same slot twice.)

**From December 7th to the 15th, shuttle buses will move from the parking location (Bab Jadid) every day from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., running every 15 minutes.
