Couple of Serbian films by now, already shown on The International Film Festival - FEST 2012 would be: --a documentary about Jiri Menzl visit to Belgrade made by Purisa Ðorđević  I am Afraid That She Understand All, -short and I may say rather ridicules film directed by young director Miroslav Stamata  Take-Off  film co-financed by the FEST Directorate, starring with Emir Kusturica and -Doctor Ray and Devils by Dinko Tucakovic film already discussed last year, about Nicholas Ray and his visit to old Yugoslavia, in the attempt to shoot film by Thomas Dylan’s screenplay; Serbian film premiere that will close the festival in a day or two, something certainly worth discussing in the separate article.   

Films from Region

In addition, FEST 2012 this year host films from region; -Spots Croatian film directed by Aldo Tardozzi, -One film from Montenegro Local Vampire directed by Branko Baletic and -One film coming from Slovenia by Andrej Kosak The State of Shock.   

 Terror and Joy    

Certainly the most attractive press meeting by now, regarding Serbian film on festival FEST 2012 would be the presentation of the book "Terror and joy - Films of Dusan Makavejev" by Lorraine Mortimer Australian anthropologist, talking about  films from Makavejev, from her point of view. Mortimer has been writing this book for 20 years -" I found Mortimer as very engaged person who knows very well Australian and worldwide film. Many of our intellectual history consists the fact that you do something in life, and you suddenly die or something you wrote, make you a prisoner. I was lucky to do movies that were so cheap so that now we can enjoy this creative oeuvre "- Dusan Makavejev told the press on press conference.  

The book describes content of Dusan´s movies and presents the collection of international reviews, quotes and reaction on Makavejev´s work. The book is a rich heritage in the world of film criticism, describing how other people see and understand those films in different countries, considering the fact that Makavejev is very well known all over the world, studied and examined so many times. In addition, the fact that the author is an anthropologist, not a film-educated critic provides and interesting marks and provides a new approach to work of Makavejev. Such values​​ inspired by the anthropologist’s view in order to engage different point of study. Also, the fascination of artistic talent that belong to a particular school, one-way style, no matter of his films that has often been observed and contextualized in the Yugoslav black wave, or by the ideological and political paradigm, something that followed dissents living in the world and coming from old Yugoslavia in the sixties and seventies. In this sense and reading films written by Dusan Makavejev Lorraine Mortimer, consider the context of the nineties as well. I cannot wait to read the book!
