Both beautifully shot in black-and-white and willfully blank, Davide Manuli’s films are littered with memorable images and catchy surreal humor, but despite an engagingly over-the-top Vincent Gallo it is likely just to be pretty accessible for mainstream audiences: the one who like Samuel Beckett and absurdist drama Waiting for Godot though has just the right amount of charm to be accepted for festivals. Davide’s Beckett (Beket) actually was really really accepted, because according to this witty and utterly interesting author, an actress Charlotte Rampling saw the film 3 times during just one day. Davide studied theatre directing in the USA but ended up in such films: Samuel Beckett's masterpiece 'Waiting for Godot,' in a surreal journey where apocalyptic images, absurd, repetitive dialogues, and techno beats narrate an unpredictably super inventive story of the search for the meaning of existence.
