Cinema City Cloud No 95th day of Cinema City brought many interesting screenings from all over the world. As for Serbian film on the 5th day of the festival the screening of the film The Parade (Parada), the most successful film in the region of ex Jugoslavia by now, directed by Srdjan Dragojević provoked many people. Of course all the seats were taken and all tickets were sold. This was the Best Film according to the FIPRESCI Organization of Serbia; the only Serbian film that made on the International Film Festival in Berlin. It is the film with several other awards by now and is the first one that openly and pretty intelligently discuss the question of mentality-inheritance of chauvinism or homophobia on the territory of region of ex Yugoslavia on a very simple and perhaps bit too common way: aimed for the common audience with no particular knowledge of or particular interest for the film in general. Of course, 5th day was the day of presenting low budget competition Up to 10 000 section on the press conference that openly discussed about low budget films in Serbia and other countries, about limitations and advantages.
Also highly intelligent German filmmaker that I have already mentioned Andreas Dresen had another screening of the film: this time entirely different Cloud 9 (Wolke 9) film that grounds for exploring the messy consequences of affairs outside of marriage, an involvement that invests the sex scenes with aged couple, which is not that often in films today. Inge, married for the last 30 years to Werner (Horst Rehberg), spends her time with the resale of clothing, she sings in the church choir getting a happy but dull life with the man and their children. But one day she meets client, 76-year old Karl (Horst Westphal) and starts with the affair. Affairs are something reserved for younger adults and Dresen is breaking up this code. Great love affairs can happen to an older couple with just the same intensity as it may happen to younger people! Another focus festival this year I may say is on Hungarian film. And the most prominent representor of Hungarian film on the festival is with no doubt Hungarian film director Bėla Tarr. So the festival audience had the chance to see at least one Hungarian film on a daily basis. 5th day of the festival had the screening of two Bėla Tarr’s films: Prolόgus (Prologue) and A Londoni fėrfi (The Man from London). And today the audience will have the chance to see Hungary 2011 (Magyarorsyẚg 2011) directed by a group of authors and another masterpiece by Bėla Tarr The Turin Horse (A torinói ló) It recalls the whipping of a horse in the Italian city Turin or Torino which is rumored to have caused the mental breakdown of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. The film is in black-and-white, and depicts the repetitive daily lives of the owner and the horse. 22.06.2012 | Radmila Djurica's blog Cat. : Andreas Dresen Andreas Dresen Bela Tarr Berlin Cinema City Cinema City Cinema of Germany Cinema of Serbia Entertainment Entertainment film director Films Friedrich Nietzsche Horst Rehberg Horst Westphal Inge Karl London Person Attributes Person Career Serbia Srdjan Dragojevic Srđan Dragojević Tarr The Turin Horse (A torinói ló) It the FIPRESCI the International Film Festival The Parade The Turin Horse Torino Turin Wolke Neun FILM
