Providence Latin American Film Festival


The Providence Latin American Film Festival (PLAFF) is a non-profit --501(c)3-- cultural organization that promotes Latin American, Hispanic and Portuguese  cultures and heritage through the art of cinematography. PLAFF has screened high-quality feature films, documentaries, animations and shorts; along with photo exhibits, children and youth media workshops, music and dance groups, well-known singers and many other cultural events over the past 17 years.  As the largest and most exciting film festival of its kind in New England, PLAFF has been recognized nationally and internationally for its rich history and the quality of its films and programs. It is the first Latin American film festival to present juried awards.  The festival’s award for Best First Work (Opera Prima) is named for world renowned Director and artist Don Fernando Birri, the father of New Latin American Cinema. Don Birri is PLAFF's Honorary  President.  Other Honorary Board Members and past festival honorees include the late, great Anthony Quinn, Antonio Banderas, Danny Glover, Ivan Giroud, and other personalities of the world of international cinema.
