Over the weekend Garden Collage partnered with the Palm Springs International Film Festival for a very special party on January 9th at SnapShot Studios, which celebrated the garden through various creative perspectives. To honor the beauty of nature through the lens of film, GC hosted an afterparty for 50 Days In The Desert-- an all-access, drama-filled film about the making of The White Knights-- as well as The Violin Teacher, which tells the story of Laerte, a talented violinist who is does not gain admission to the orchestra he sought to play for, which leads him to pursue a career in teaching. All guests at the party received carefully-curated, garden-sourced items that were hand-selected by the GC Team. Goodie bags contained beauty products from Dr. Alkaitis, hand-sewn Garden Collage sachets, Simply Gum, Spruce & Co screen cleaners, and more. The evening featured beautiful fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese, and passed hors d'oeuvres as well as a spread of floral-inspired desserts, great music, a boutique photo booth, an open bar, and of course: fresh flower bouquets. Garden Collage is a garden-inspired lifestyle publication that aims to explore the garden through a prism of perspectives. Founded in 2015 by longtime gardener and California native Daisy Helman, GC is a new kind of magazine-- a place where you'll find stories about the aesthetic value of gardens, the farm-to-table movement, natural skincare, herbal healing, green design, DIY projects, and other interesting takes on the evolving role that nature plays in our modern lives. GC aims to bring beauty and innovation to the natural lifestyle movement; our mission is to bring the garden into peoples' lives, from the farm to the fire escape. We'd like to thank Sensorium Event Productions' Tamara Bolton, SnapShot Studios, Signature Party Rentals, X.I.L. Productions, Jensen Floral Design, Floral Designer LeeLina Martin, Kool Party Rentals, Creative Plant Rentals, and Mary Cass, without whom this event would not have been possible. Garden Collage brings the garden into people's lives!
This year's Palm Springs Film Festival was an eventful one: Bryan Cranston and Rooney Mara received the festival's prestigious Spotlight Award for acting at this year's awards gala; Matt Damon received the Chairman's Award; Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett both received the Desert Palm Achievement Award; and Michael Fassbender took home honors for the International Star Award. And this is just what happened outside of the film screenings.
