Cannes Riviera "Biblical Rain" - MIPCOM still a go

“Actual biblical rain right now,” tweets one reporter at the international TV market, as Cannes shuts down. Severe weather created a deluge at Cannes, the film festival holyland. MIPCOM television market is set to begin October 5th but severe thunderstorms poured down upon the fall flooding the streets threatening the event taking place in this riviera city. No electricity power in Cannes Sunday and phone and mobile service was intermmittent at best.  Hotels along the Croisette were in blackout as the outages forced organizers Reed Midem to shift The Mip Jr. market, the two-day event for children's television programming, from the blacked out Hotel Martinez to the Cannes Palais, one of the only buildings in town with electricity.
