The Manchester International Film Festival has been founded to become an annual event to showcase strong and inventive film-making. Running alongside the established and world renowned Manchester International Festival, which brings over 200,000 people to the city, the inaugural Manchester International Film Festival will take place on July 10th - 12th 2015 across 2 screens at the AMC Cinema in the Great Northern Warehouse and various original and cool venues in and around the vibrant and creative city of Manchester.

The founders’ objective is to provide a platform to represent independent films in an organic and true form. The organisations quest is to champion great story telling that translates brilliantly onto screen. Up-and-coming writers, directors and producers, along with established industry professionals, and film lovers alike are all invited to celebrate independent cinema, which will make The Manchester International Film Festival a hybrid event to discover new and exciting film-making talent from around the globe.

Running alongside the Manchester International Festival means the city will be full of over 200,000 performance art enthusiasts and both national and international press, meaning the short-listed films and film-makers will gain maximum exposure.

MANIFF is pleased to announce that the Manchester worker bee is to be its official emblem.

The symbol of the bee was used to portray Mancunians’ hard working ethos during the industrial revolution, in the 19th century.

The winner of the best film of the 2015 festival will be the first to receive the annual Golden Bee award. Other categories that include best screenplay, best feature, best short, and best director will receive a collection of accolades that comprise of ’ The Silver Bee’ and ‘Bronze Bee'.
