Kinofilm presents Manhattan Short Film Festival

Kinofilm and Green Room presents Manhattan Short Film Festival. Manchester's film lovers to judge the films as part of a global audience.

Manhattan Short Film Festival announces the twelve finalists whose work will be screened as part of this year’s line-up, to be shown at Manchester's Green Room on 22 September 2006 at 8.30pm and judged by the cinema-going public across two continents.

Now the world’s largest short film festival, nearly five hundred entries from a record 39 countries were received, with twelve shorts selected for the final by filmmakers from Poland, Cuba, Ireland, Australia, Germany, Israel, Spain, the UK and the US. The festival will screen 140 times in 72 cities throughout 14 countries and featured in 35 US states between 14-24 September. Audience members will be asked to vote for their favourite film, with results collated and the winner announced at the main event in Union Square Park, NYC on 24 September.

Entries include:

LAST NIGHT (IRELAND): A car accident puts a strain on the marriage of a swank Dublin couple but they fail to grasp its seriousness.

CIGARETTE BOX (POLAND): An unwitting act of betrayal during Communist rule haunts a man’s life.

Call For Entries Manchester International Film Festival

The Call for Submissions is now open for Manchester International Film Festival. Manchester’s newest film festival is being launched by Kinofilm and will take place biennially. Kinofilm Shorts will continue within the Manchester International Film Festival, and we will be looking for short films and new features, so if you have recently completed a short or feature length film, or are now in post production we would like to hear from you. Submissions will be open from 1st July – 31 December 2006. Application forms will be available on our our web site soon. Alternatively, please email Angela Reilly at angela@kinofilm.org.uk for submission forms and rules and regulations of the festival.

JIHLAVA IDFF IS CELEBRATING 10TH EDITION

The biggest festival of its kind in Central Europe "Jihlava IDFF" is celebrating 10th anniversary! Leading event for audience and film industry in Central Europe will be accompanied by East Silver docs market focusing on upcoming East European documentaries and also by East European Pitching Forum. This years´ provocative festival motto "Never Been Better!" will ask the audience "How do you live?". Jihlava IDFF takes place from October 24th to 29th in the Czech Republic.
