Festival News, Sunday May 21Premiers Tonight both "Over the Hedge" and "Southland Tales" Premier in the Lu,iere theatre here in the Palais. Dreamgirls Launches Here in Cannes Yesterday a preview of "Dreamgirls" featuring Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles, and Eddie Murphy was held in the Martinez. The films overseas success was in question due the musical nature with black stars. The film is said to be quite smart and not what you'd expect. The launch was a hit, and the worldwide premier is eagerly awaiting. "Summer Palace" is on the Hush Hush Chinese film Summer "Palace" directed by Ye Lou is in the main competition for this years festival. Media and press coverage for "Palace" is little to none. The film is atteding the festival with out approval from Chinese Film Bureau. Now the question is: what will happen if "Palace" wins the prize? Prince Pedro Spanish director Pedro Almodovar has been awarded Prince of Astirias Arts Prize. Arts Prize is one of Spain's most prestigious aclaims. Almodovar is known for his integrity and sincerity. The Spanish director is the 5th film maker to recieve the award since 1981. He will recieve $64,000 cash prize and a sculpture by Joan Miro.
