The Locarno Film Festival is a show and like every show it needs an audience, an artist and a behind-the-scenes team that thinks about every detail, without the public noticing. The audience is the people of the Festival, the artist is the cinema, behind the scenes it's us, with you. Locarno72 was a year-long ride, made of obstacles, objectives, projects and dreams. "My cinema is the cinema of those who build it with me," said Pedro Costa, receiving the Pardo d'oro 2019. And the same goes for us: our Festival is the festival of those who build it with us. Locarno73 has just begun and thanks to you and your commitment, it will be just as wonderful, if not even more so.

Timeless. 245 films for 432 screenings. From Hollywood to Vietnam, from Iceland to Senegal, from Switzerland to Brazil. Films that have shown themselves for the first time, 80-year-old films and middle-aged films rediscovered in wonderful restorations. And again, a handful of minutes and seven-hour films. Films by auteurs taking their first steps in cinema and films by those who have already written a page of history.
