Save Kino Moviemento: Germany's Oldest Cinema

by LINDSAY R. BELLINGER

Kino Moviemento, Germany's oldest still-running cinema, needs your help to keep their doors open. They are an independently-run cinema that first began screening films in 1907 as Topps Kino and over the course of the past 113 years has been a safe haven for Berliner film culture. The Moviemento team continues to showcase numerous film festivals and unique cinematic experiences each and every year. The 4th annual Weihnachtsfilmfestival was the latest film festival that experienced the magic that is found at Moviemento.

Moviemento is in dire straits, facing the threat of losing their beloved cinema to the cutthroat real estate market. Although Berlin is still one of the more reasonably priced housing and commercial markets in Germany, each year the rents are climbing and more and more historical places, what makes Berlin so special and different from other cities, are being forced to close or relocate. Don't let Germany and Berlin lose one of its cinematic gems and help Moviemento purchase their space! Let's all come together and keep Moviemento alive for years to come. Click here to help save Moviemento!
