The Killing of John Lennon at Raindance Sun 30th Sept 7:15 (REVIEW)RAINDANCE 2007: The Killing of John Lennon (2006) In competition for the title of Best British UK Feauture, The Killing of John Lennon (2006) follows the life of killer, Mark Chapman from Hawaii to New York in the lead up to the killing of iconic Beatles legend, John Lennon. British Director, Andrew Piddington was first taken by Chapman when he heard of conspiracy theories relating the death of Lennon. Piddington explains the film took four years to make, and used location shooting throughout to give the most realistic portrayal of the events as possible; he felt compelled to find as much truth as possible, checking every source in the film at least four time before including it. Much of the film revolves around Chapman's testimonials and journals. The premise that Champan's motive to kill was promoted by his intense fixation with the book by, JD Salinger 'The Catcher int he Rye', which spoke of abloishing 'phoneys'. Chapman became certain that John Lennon was a 'phoney', singing of a life without possesions but living in a life full of material objects; this created a rage to kill. The beautiful photography used, gives insight into the dark and deranged mind of Chapman, showing how an obsession with Lennon became out of control. Newcomer, Jonas Ball stars as Chapman and gives a powerful and chilling performance of a man, completely deluded from reality. I reccommend to watch out for this one; The Killing of John Lennon, is set to hit the UK box office around December this year. 03.10.2007 | Laura-Louise's blog Cat. : Andrew Piddington British people CDATA Chapman Chapter 27 Death of John Lennon English people Entertainment Entertainment festival film John Lennon John Lennon Jonas Ball Jonas Ball Lennon Mark Chapman Mark Chapman Music New York raindance The Killing of John Lennon
