Oliver Stone and Dario Argento will receive the Ischia Legend Award

Directors Oliver Stone and Dario Argento will be presented with the award ceremony’s most prestigious accolade during the upcoming festival. The announcement was made at Cannes by Marco di Lello, the Regional Minister for Tourism and Culture for the Campagnia region, the supporting body for the event.

Oliver Stone, with eleven nominations and three Oscars, is a dominant figure in the world of cinematic history. His career has included masterpieces such as Midnight Run, Scarface and The Year of the Dragon, Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July among many others. He is currently working on Jawbreaker, a film that tells the story of the American government’s hunt for Osama Bin Laden.

British director Stephen Frears and Italian director Daniele Lucchetti will receive the European Global Award
Stephen Frears and Daniele Lucchetti will receive the honour at the opening night of the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival. Stephen Frears is one of the most renowned contemporary directors. Before his success with The Queen he directed Mrs Henderson Presents, Dirty Pretty Things, High Fidelity and Dangerous Liasons, among others.

Daniele Lucchetti made his debut by winning a David di Donatello award for Domani Accadrá / Tomorrow Will Happen, before proving himself as one of Italy’s most interesting directors with Il Portaborse. His latest success was Mio Figlio è Figlio Unico / My Borther Is An Only Child, which has been showing in Italian cinemas since May.
