The film Little Miss Sunshine will receive the Ischia Family Award during the Global Film & Music Fest (July 9-15). The award, which is being given for the first time this year, recognizes international films on the contemporary family, which according to the Ischia Academy of Art, present themes of great social value in a product made for the general public. American directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Fares will accept the award on July 13 at the Hotel Mezzatorre at Forio d’Ischia. Grazia Bottiglieri, vice-president of Ischia Global 2007, will present the award during the gala that will take place in the halls that were dear to the Maestro Luchino Visconti The film, which already won two Oscars, has also received honors at both the Sundance and Locarno festivals. The first feature film by Dayton (one of the most famous directors of television commercials in the world) and Faris was last season’s true surprise. The award presentation reads:“The two American directors, who have vast experience in the field of videoclips, have made a wild road movie that tells the story of a very original family that has charmed the world.” “It’s a film that’s ironic and fun, while at the same time rich in content,” says Grazia Bottiglieri. “It really struck us for the originality of the story, the absurd trip that causes the conflicts among the characters to explode, but that in the end helps them to finally understand each other: it’s a positive message for all families, even those with great difficulties. The special Family Award,” she added, “is being inaugurated with this recognition of an original and creative directing duo, that has become a point of reference for independent world cinema.”

The Ischia Global Fest is organized by the International Art Academy of Ischia and the Tourist Board of Ischia and Procida, together with the Regional Ministry fro Tourism of the Campania Region in collaboration with Kimbo coffee, Fiuggi mineral water, and the Venice Casino, as well as the participation of Cinecittà Holding, and the Chamber of Commerce of Naples and Medmar.
