The official program of the 64th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg
The International Jury will decide on the “Grand Newcomer Award Mannheim-Heidelberg”
Mannheim-Heidelberg has a worldwide reputation as an international film festival of yearly discoveries of talented directors from all the continents. It is renowned for continually presenting a high-quality selection of the best and most promising newcomer films. In a pool kept deliberately small, the 22 new cinematographic works will be competing for the Grand Newcomer Award Mannheim-Heidelberg in the International Competition. Among them one World Premiere, five International Premieres, three European Premieres and 13 German Premieres.
“Every film in the Competition distinguishes itself by telling its story with a very personal touch – authentic and believable – and the fact that none of the films deny where the come from. Each of them are infused with the culture, the people and the country of their origin,” Festival Director Dr. Michael Kötz describes the program. “Presenting films that have a genuinely compassionate attitude towards life and humanity is very important to us here.”
