The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) and theInternational Network of Television and Radio Advancement (INTARA) have partnered to jointly organize the INTERNATIONAL INTARA TELEVISION AND RADIO FESTIVAL,  the Nation's Radio Awards and the Nation'sTelevision Awards.

The partnership with BON is a major boost for INTARA, a non-for profit organization that iscommitted to promoting creativity and professionalism in the broadcast industryin Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

According to the Festival Director of the INTARA TELEVISION AND RADIO FESTIVAL (INTARA TVRF), Mr. Victor Okhai, INTARA got the endorsementof BON after the umbrella body of broadcast media owners invited the NGO to its 52nd General Assembly which took place in Dutse, Jigawa State, Nigeria recently for apresentation.

 “Prior to our presentation to BON we have held consultative meetings with major stakeholders in the industry from regulators, to associations and other major stakeholders.The level of support has been overwhelming and everybody seemed to agree that the philosophy behind INTARA will add needed value to broadcast industry,’’said Okhai.Okhai further said that the awards will take place during the Television and Radio Festival that will be hosted by Delta State from December 1st to 4th, 2010 in Asaba, the state capital. The Radio Awards will take placeon the 3rd of December and the Television Awards on the last day of thefestival.

He revealed that the Radio Awards has 27 categories  inclusive of one special category while Television awards have five major broad categories: TELEVISION PROGRAMS /SERIES, PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES,TECHNICALAND CREATIVE CATEGORIES, TELEVISION COMMERCIALS, and SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS under which awards will be presented to various winners.

The festival director said the submission of entries has started and that it will close on the 16th August, 2010 adding that radio and TV stations, independent producers and production companies can enter for any of the categories. Final date for submission of late entries being 31st August 2010.

 “The entry forms can be downloaded from our website www.intra.org and we encourage people to submit their work early enough to allow our jury members which is made up of eminent personalities and distinguished professionals with impeccable reputation and records of achievement within the broadcast industry.’’
