Two Colombian films hit La Croisette
One Colombian feature by young filmmaker Ciro Guerra "Los Viajes del Viento" (Les Voyages du vent) is an official entry this year at the 62nd Festival de Cannes in "Un Certain Regard" section.First time in eleven years.
A short film, "1989" by Camilo Matiz is in the Semaine de la critique section.

SYNOPSIS
Ignacio Carrillo travelled all his life throughout the villages and regions of northern Colombia, carrying music and traditional songs on his accordion, a legendary instrument that is said to be cursed, because it once belonged to the devil.

It’s been 11 years since a Colombian film was included in the Official Selection of the world’s most important film festival, attesting to the positive trend in filmmaking currently sweeping Colombia. This time it’s “Los viajes del viento”, produced by Ciudad Lunar Producciones. The name Ciro Guerra now joins the list of prestigious directors to have participated in Un Certain Regard: Ingmar Bergman, Jean-Luc Godard, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Lars von Trier, Eric Rohmer, Wim Wenders, Michael Moore, Peter Greenaway to name but a few.
