TURKISH STAND AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

After a one-year hiatus, Basak Emre and Dr. Ahmet Boyacıoğlu are back, manning the elegant pavillion nestled on the Cannes beachfront commisioned by Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and organized by the the Ankara Cinema Association that encases the Turkish stand touting Turkey`s film, during Cannes Film Festival, 12-23 May 2010.

Although no Turkish films feature in the official section this year, four can be seen in the market and Basak reports that Nuri Ceylan is prepping a new work for the near future.

 Both were busy last year with BLACK amd WHITE, a feature directed by Ahmet Boyacıoğlu with Basak involved in the production. A production of Gezici which runs the Festival on Wheels which will take place next December in the charming city of ARTVIN. 

Two separate catalogues are available in English, one for short films and documentaries, the other for full-length features, the objective being to promote Turkish cinema as effectively as possible and to secure both commercial success and festival screenings for local films in the international marketplace. The compendium will include films produced in 2009 and 2010 which didn't appear in the 2009 Cannes catalogue.



Separately, a DVD of feature film trailers will be compiled together with five DVD of selected shorts.



Kalan Music prepared a Turkish music cd for Cannes.
