Stellungnahme "A COMPLEXION CHANGE - Transnational & Intercultural Diplomacy / XXVIII. Black International Cinema Berlin / 'Footprints in the Sand?' Exhibition 2013"


Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

über 30% der Bürger1) haben einen Migrationshintergrund, sind also entweder selbst im Ausland geboren oder haben mindestens ein im Ausland geborenes Elternteil. Knapp die Hälfte dieser Menschen sind unter 18 Jahren.

Jahrzehnte ist im Bezirk eine gesellschaftliche Vielfalt gewachsen, welche das Zusammenleben bestimmt und das Alltagsbild in den Kiezen prägt. Verschiedene Lebenslagen und Lebenswelten bereichern sich gegenseitig und vermischen sich, dies ist geradezu wesentlich für den besonderen Charme in den Kiezen des Bezirks.

Diese Realität ist heute selbstverständliche Normalität, nicht immer von allen so gesehen, aber im Großen und Ganzen funktionierend. Die immer wieder kehrenden Debatten um Einwanderung und Integration zeigen, dass soziale Probleme vereinzelt immer wieder ethnisiert werden. Eine solche Ethnisierung spaltet nicht nur die Gesellschaft, sondern führt auch zu Diskriminierung und Rassismus.

Das Projekt "A COMPLEXION CHANGE - Transnational & Intercultural Diplomacy / XXVIII. Black International Cinema Berlin / 'Footprints in the Sand?' Exhibition 2013" (Filmreihe, 8.-12. Mai / Ausstellung, 1. Juli-31. August), produziert und geleitet von Fountainhead® Tanz Theatre/Cultural Zephyr e.V., wird von mir, der Integrationsbeauftragten des Bezirks Tempelhof-Schöneberg in Berlin, unterstützt.

Kunst und Kultur hat das Potential, Menschen zueinander zu bringen - über Emotionen, ohne Barrieren, mit Anerkennung und Respekt.

Statement regarding "A COMPLEXION CHANGE - Transnational & Intercultural Diplomacy / XXVIII. Black International Cinema Berlin / 'Footprints in the Sand?' Exhibition 2013"


Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Over 30 percent of our citizens1) have a migratory background, they are either born abroad or have at least one parent born abroad. Almost half of these people are under 18 years of age.

For decades, a cultural variety has been developing in this district, which determines our living together and influences everyday life in the area. Various life situations and cultures enrich each other and are combining, which is virtually essential for the special charm in the area of Tempelhof-Schöneberg.

Nowadays, this reality has become a self-evident normality, not always understood by everyone, but as a whole, a functioning situation. The ever returning debates about immigration and integration, demonstrate, that social problems are continously discussed in regards to ethnicity. The issue of ethnicity not only divides the society, but also leads to discrimination and racism.

The project "A COMPLEXION CHANGE - Transnational & Intercultural Diplomacy / XXVIII. Black International Cinema Berlin / 'Footprints in the Sand?' Exhibition 2013" (Film Series: May 8-12 / Exhibition, July 1-August 31), produced and directed by Fountainhead® Tanz Theatre/Cultural Zephyr e.V. is supported by myself, the commissioner for integration of the district Tempelhof-Schöneberg in Berlin.

Art and culture have the potential to bring people together - through emotions, without barriers, resulting in acknowledgement and respect.

For 27 years, the two Tempelhofers operate with a group of dedicated supporters on this film presentation, dedicated to the filmmaking of people from the African Diaspora, and in addition they work on a special kind of talk show on the Open Channel (Berlin). Here they are – with free admission – faithful to the original non-commercial neighborhood character of their activities. If There Were No Racism

If there were no racism
There’d be so much more to say
So much more
That we could talk about
Would come to light
And be recovered
If there were no racism

Our stories would be richer
We would all have more inside colour
Hidden desires could rise
Buried or forgotten knowledge
Could come back
Dreams could manifest more easily
Because justice would rise
If there were no racism

Pain could be dissolved
And transformed into gratitude
All kinds of forms of discrimination
And inflictions of injustice
Would be found to be superfluous
And finally gone
Because these acts of error would be recognized
As being absurd and out of order
The order of the day
Would be equality instead
The world order
Would be in balance
If there were no racism

We would make connections
Between all the so-called missing pieces
The distorted and disrespected pieces
As well as the ignored pieces of togetherness
The glimpses of life in harmony which have helped
To avert and avoid and deflect
From the worst excesses of disaster
We would be tasting pure and undiluted freedom
Whenever we drink from the cup of life
Which would be available
In everything with good intention
Because all things would radiate
Their holy origin
Which would resonate
In all the energies around us
So we would need to have no fear
If there were no racism

If only
There was no racism
We would be free from division
And freed from bondage
With our spirits fully resurrected
Including those of the departed
Because everybody, the living and the dead
Would be reborn in different ways
Because the vibrations of heaven and earth would rise
If there were no racism

We would recognize each other
Much more clearly and properly
We would be able to embrace each other
Much more passionately
We would fly freely over the treetops
And communicate with the stars and the oceans
Normality would be reinstated
And we would experience normal life at last
Be free at last
Feel the beauty
In every pore of our being and living
If there were no racism
We would have seen the
Promised Land on earth
At last.

Grownupism!
1Day, When I Grow Up!

So as usual, I wuz sittin' an' stinkin' 'bout us kidz parole time, comin’ up soon!
I herd on the radio, how the businesses are so happy, ‘cause lottsa shoppers are gonna pay lottsa visits an’ take away, lottsa stuff!
Guess wut. It’s Xmas time –
An us kidz are reel happy, ‘cause the dungeon skools are all gonna close, ev’rywhere.
It probably gives the dragon teechers time to drink blud an’ come up with sum yukky homewerk ideas, when we have to face ‘em agin in January.
Wow, it’s always the same routine –
Duck-drudge – homewerk an’ then – vakation –
or parole, as me an’ my pardnurs call it.
I gotta admit, our perents always seem glad we’re home all day – for awhile!?
I don’t know, maybe we’re there jes long enuf to make ‘em happy.
But don’t mess up a guud thing an’ overstay the welcome!
Skool vakation is long enuf!
Somma my pardnurs are leavin’ town for awhile an’ goin’ somewhere warm!
I guess that’s kinda sorta OK, but they’re gonna miss alla the snow!
I like the snow an’ the snow peeple we build – me an’ my sister!
She’s a lotta fun an’ a good snow ball thrower too!
Reel akkurate –
guess how I know?
So, it’s tree an’ presents an’ family time an’ guess wut?
I’m reel glad ‘bout it.
Grandma, mama, papa, my snowball pitchin’ sister an’ me!
It’s gonna be like always –
Super Great!

Erwachsensein!
Eines Tages, Wenn Ich Erwachsen Werde!

Also, wie üblich war ich am Sitz’n und Stink’n üba den Hafturlaub für uns Kids, der bald kommt!
Im Radio hab' ich gehört, dass die Geschäfte sich so freu'n, weil 'ne Menge Käufer 'ne Menge Besuche mach'n und 'ne Menge Zeugs mitnehm'!
Ratet mal, es is' Weihnachtszeit –
Und wir Kids sind echt happy, weil die Kerkerschulen alle geschloss'n werd'n, überall.
Das gibt den Drachenlehrern wahrscheinlich Zeit, Blut zu trink'n und sich 'n paar eklige Hausaufgaben auszudenk'n, wenn wir sie im Januar wieder aushalt'n müss'n.
Wow, das is' imma dasselbe Programm –
Duck'n, schuft'n – Hausaufgaben und dann – Ferjen –
oder Hafturlaub, wie meine Kumpels und ich das nenn'n.
Ich muss zugeb'n, uns're Eltern schein' froh zu sein, dass wir den ganzen Tag zuhause sind – für 'ne Weile!?
Ich weiß nich', vielleicht sind wir gerade lang genug da, dass es sie glücklich macht. Aber vermassel nich' 'ne gute Sache und bleib länger, als du willkomm' bist!
Schulferjen sind lang genug!
Einige meiner Kumpels valass'n die Stadt für 'ne Weile und vareisen ins Warme!
Ich denk' ma, das is' irgendwie so OK, aber die vapass'n den ganzen Schnee!
Ich mag den Schnee und die Schneefiguren, die wir bau'n – ich und meine Schwester!
Es macht viel Spaß mit ihr und 'ne gute Schneeballwerferin ist sie auch!
Echt treffsicher –
woher ich das wohl weiß?
Also, Zeit für'n Baum und Geschenke und Familie und, ratet ma'?
Ich bin echt froh drüba.
Oma, Mama, Papa, meine Schneeball werfende Schwester und ich!
Es wird wie imma sein –
Super klasse!
Eine glückliche Zeit sag' ich allen auf der ganzen Welt.
