Wednesday, September 17-----Telefilm Canada, the national funding and promotion agency for Canadian cinema, is one of the partners in the Independent Feature Project's No Borders Co-Production Market. This morning, the organization presented a show reel of some of the most anticipated Canadian feature films, which will be making the festival rounds in the months to come. The intiative is part of the organization's support during the Independent Film Week activities, including several Canadian projects that are being presented in the No Borders Co-Production Market itself (for more on this, tune in tomorrow on this website).

Perspective Canada is a first look at some of the top Canadian films of the year, a mix of award-winning filmmakers alongside promising new talents. Featured genres range from coming-of-age comedy and engaging documentary to historical drama and magical family feature.

THE BABY FORMULA In the beginning, sperm came from men... now the first women in the world are giving birth to each other’s babies. Alison Reid’s debut feature is pregnant with humour and unexpected twists.    

THE DESERTER (LE DÉSERTEUR) This debut feature film by Simon Lavoie is inspired by actualevents that took place in Quebec during the Second World War.  

FIERCE LIGHT: WHEN SPIRIT MEETS ACTION Acclaimed filmmaker Velcrow Ripper traces spiritual activism’s historical roots and captures the powerful personalities igniting a new wave of spiritual action around the globe.

GROWING OP  A debut film by award-winning plawright Michael Melski, Growing Op is a comedy about a teenager finding the real jungle isn’t his family’s grow-operation, but the twisted values of the status quo.  

A SHINE OF RAINBOW Distinguished director and cinematographer Vic Sarin’s second feature tells the story a lonely orphan’s life that is transformed by an extraordinary woman who teaches him to conquer grief and discover the magic in nature and himself.
